The Marmaris Yacht Liveaboards Amateur Dramatics Society (My Lads) trod the boards on Christmas Eve, adding to the fun and merriment enjoyed by everyone. The evening kicked off with an excellent international buffet and was followed by My Lads, organised by Paul on s/y ‘Balena’.

The act was opened by an hilarious song from Albert and Pam from s/y ‘Rambler’, and was followed by another 20 yotties performing song and comedy acts, including a side-splitting toilet sketch from Jamie, Paul and Graham from ‘Esper’, ‘Antigua Lady’ and ‘Eeyore’.

Edward of s/y ‘Panier’ played two carols on his cornet and got everyone singing

along. Santa Claus and his elves then delivered presents to all kids, big and small, who had behaved themselves in 2007.

Best wishes and fair winds for 2008 to all our readers!

Yotties show their appreciation for marina staff

28th December 2007

u 570 YTL RAISED

Text Box: g CHRISTMAS CHEER

A generous 570 ytl was raised by volunteers from each pontoon as a big thank you to all the staff of Marmaris Yacht Mariana during the Kurban Bayrami break.

The idea for the collection was raised and agreed at the weekly ladies' coffee mornings. It was felt that a way should be found of saying thanks to all the staff at the marina for the hard work they put into making it a happy and welcoming place to stay over winter. Women volunteers from all over the marina stepped forward to collect money from their own pontoons. It was hoped that

enough would be received to equal previous years, but they soon realized they would surpass any previous collections. “We were absolutely thrilled with the result,” said a very happy Karen, from s/y ‘Antigua Lady’. “The generosity of people has surpassed all our expectations.”

This unprecedented amount resulted in every member of the 130 strong marina team being given an individual thank you gift. The office staff, accounts department and laundry staff each received boxes of chocolates. The remaining staff, including the marianos, security, yard and cleaning staff among others,

received a gift wrapped parcel of mixed chocolates.

A team of ladies distributed the gifts on Monday before the Kurban Bayrami celebrations and were warmly thanked by all the staff. At the Christmas Eve party personal gifts were presented to Nazli, Operations Manager, Mr Şener, General Manager, and Mr Bilgin the marina owner.

We should all thank the ladies for their hard work in collecting the money, shopping for the gifts, wrapping and distributing them. We know it is a busy period for all of us and it is kind of them to give up their time. Well done too to all of us yotties who contributed to the collection.
