A Photographic Montage Of Our Trip
Back to Jamie:
After our first long sweaty drive from Marmaris we jumped out of our car at the foot of the 'Cotton Castle' hills in Pamukkale. I remember walking up the hills towards the travertine pools listening to the sky larks, my favourite bird song, which always remind me of playing in the fields as a kid. That bird song would be the only familiar thing I'd experience for the next three days because this trip truly was extraordinarily out of this world. To cram in so many utterly stunning sights in three days is something neither of us well-travelled people have ever done before. That's Turkey for you.
Below is a small collection of photographs I took over this weekend (all the other pics that accompanied Liz's commentary were taken by herself). This is my interpretation of our experience. It starts with an old wood carving master we met in Sirence, one of the last masters in the Anatolian region. We bought some salad tongs off him, which was worth the couple of shots I got: one a close-up portrait and the other of him at work. Having now read Liz's account of our trip the rest of the images should be familiar to you.
